Andy Diaz
Bio
Andy Diaz (b. 1993, Miami) is a self-taught artist based in Hialeah, FL, who spends his days skateboarding, drawing in notebooks scattered around his house and painting, usually in his backyard with cans of spray paint. Diaz incorporates equal measures of tenderness and dark humor into the painted creatures and figures inhabiting his canvases. Larger than life, these characters and scenes channel Diaz’ love of emoji culture as they document his day-to-day struggles and our shared current world moment, all while playfully seeming oblivious. Rendered with spray paint, oils, acrylic, or a mix, Diaz's canvases alternate between hazy dreamscapes painted in subtle tones to more aggressive, tightly-painted scenes in day glow colors.
